Job summary

Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a school-based Occupational Therapist to screen and evaluate students for eligibility for occupational therapy services within the educational setting.

You will assist in developing and writing comprehensive evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports, and IEPs, ensuring compliance with required formats and timelines. The role includes scheduling, delivering various service formats, and maintaining confidential student data in line with HIPAA/FERPA.

Qualifications

  • Valid PA Occupational Therapist License is required.
  • Valid Occupational Therapy Degree is required.
  • Pediatric school based experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Screen and evaluate students to determine eligibility for school based occupational therapy services.
  • Assist in writing comprehensive evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports and IEPs.
  • Attend and discuss results of evaluations and IEP reports.
  • Schedule students effectively for therapy services.
  • Deliver individual, group, classroom, or consultative services.
  • Use evidence-based approaches and appropriate materials for therapy.
  • Consult with educators, other therapists, and parents regarding needs and services.
  • Maintain student files and complete documentation on time.
  • Prepare ACCESS billing for eligible students.
  • Monitor progress with data collection.
  • Submit schedules and updates to administration as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA/FERPA and AIU policy.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Screen and evaluate students to determine eligibility for school based occupational therapy services.
  • Assist in the development and writing of comprehensive evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports and IEPs following required formats and compliance timelines.
  • Attend, participate in, and/or review information to discuss results of required evaluations and IEP reports.
  • Schedule students effectively, efficiently to receive occupational therapy services.
  • Implement individual, group, classroom, consultative services as appropriate to meet the needs of students in their educational programs.
  • Utilize best practices; evidence based research, and appropriate materials to implement therapeutic services.
  • Consult with educational and other therapy staff and parents regarding occupational therapy needs and services in school.
  • Maintain working student files in accordance with department procedures.
  • Complete all documentation within required timelines.
  • Prepare and complete ACCESS billing for eligible students.
  • Monitor and document student progress based on data collection information.
  • Submit current treatment schedules and updates as needed to administration.
  • Ensure and maintain student confidentiality and protect student data in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations and AIU policy.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with use of email, word documents, excel, and online IEP writing systems as required.
Qualifications:
  • Valid PA Occupational Therapist License
  • Valid Occupational Therapy Degree
  • Pediatric school based experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability and experience working as a member of a team.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
Additional Requirements:

Current Act 114, Act 34 and Act 151 required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
