Job summary

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, TX is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will evaluate patients, design individualized therapy plans, provide hands-on interventions, and collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to support recovery and independence.

Candidates should hold a Texas OT license and a degree in OT (MS/BS/OTD). Acute care experience is preferred; new grads are welcome. Weekday schedule with rotating weekends and some holidays may apply.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• OT licensure in Texas required.

Your role will include:

• Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
• Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
• Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
• Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
• Leading by example-providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (OT) Occupational Therapist licensed in the state of Texas is required
• Masters Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Doctorate Degree from an OT program is required
• Experience in an acute care setting preferred, new grads will be considered
• Must be able to work weekdays with rotating weekends and occasional holidays
