Job summary

Indiana University Health System in Lafayette, IN is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide services for the rehabilitation of patients with physical and psychological dysfunctions. You will use sensorimotor, functional, educational, recreational, and social activities to help patients regain functioning and will supervise assistants and students.

Experience in acute care is preferred, but new grads with acute care fieldwork are considered.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in OT from an accredited program is required
  • Current Indiana OT license is required
  • NBCOT certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or per unit policy

Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy services for treatment of physical and psychological dysfunctions
  • Uses sensorimotor, functional, educational, recreational, and social activities to aid recovery
  • Supervises occupational therapy assistants, support personnel and students
  • Participates in department operations and education-related activities

Job description

Overview:

Location:IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, IN.

Shift:Mon – Fri, one weekend day/month required.

Experience: 6 months of acute care experience preferred. Will consider new grads with acute care fieldwork experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provides occupational therapy services for the treatment of physical and psychological dysfunctions. Provides direct patient care using a variety of sensorimotor, functional, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients regain physical or mental functioning. Appropriately supervises occupational therapy assistants, support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.

  • Requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited academic program in occupational therapy; or, if foreign trained, graduation from an occupational therapy education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
  • Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred.
  • Requires current license in the State of Indiana.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
