Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a Magnet Hospital team delivering high-quality patient care. You will evaluate, treat and educate patients across physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs while supporting families and supervising staff.

The role is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm with some 4‑10hr or 5‑8hr shifts; weekends 1 day per month and holidays are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in OT from an ACOTE-accredited program.
  • Current Ohio OT license and BLS/HCP certification.
  • Experience in clinical OT settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact independence in daily living.
  • Assess patient ability and design plans of care including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement treatment plans and document patient progress.
  • Educate patient and family about deficits and care plans.
  • Direct and supervise support personnel and participate in student education.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to help patients improve their ability to perform normal activities of daily living. Whether from a physical injury, stroke, cognitive differences, surgery or general aging, your work as an OT helps maximize their confidence in performing self-care, working and managing life responsibilities.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm with some flexibility working either 4- 10hr or 5- 8hr shifts. Weekend requirements occur twice per month (1 day weekend). Holidays are also required and will be scheduled.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
  • Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
  • Act a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in clinical area

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
