Job description

Full-time pediatric occupational therapy in the schools, on a 10-month school-year schedule with paid school breaks, holidays, and snow days!

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a small Western New York therapy provider that delivers occupational and physical therapy services to local school districts. They are hiring a full-time OT to join their team serving students in a Niagara County school district.

You will own your caseload from evaluation through IEP goals and treatment, working side by side with teachers, families, and the rest of the school team. The schedule is five 7-hour school days per week (35 hours) with a half-hour lunch break, on a 10-month school-year contract. You are paid when the schools close for academic breaks, holidays, and snow days.

School-based or pediatric experience is a plus, but it is not required. New graduates are welcome, and the team will train the right person.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Screen, evaluate, and re-evaluate students using standardized and non-standardized assessments, then turn the results into clear, measurable goals
  • Deliver treatment built around each student's IEP in the therapy room, the classroom, and other settings the district designates, including teletherapy when the district calls for it
  • Design, adapt, and maintain equipment for positioning, self-care, and classroom access, and help the school spot accessibility barriers
  • Coach teachers and aides on positioning, equipment, and weaving therapy goals into everyday classroom activities
  • Partner with families on progress and carryover at home, and attend IEP meetings, annual reviews, and parent conferences
  • Keep timely, accurate documentation that meets NYSED, Medicaid, and district standards, including daily notes, progress reports, and evaluations
  • Provide clinical supervision to an OTA when assigned, and share your knowledge with the wider team through in-services
WHAT YOU BRING
  • A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited occupational therapy program
  • A New York State OT license or limited permit.
  • Pediatric or school-based experience is preferred, not required. New grads are encouraged to apply
  • Strong, clear writing for evaluations and progress notes, and comfort with Word and Google Docs
  • The organization to manage a caseload and documentation independently
  • Clear communication with school staff, families, and supervisors
  • Ability to complete NYS fingerprint clearance (TEACH system) and a pre-employment physical with immunization records
WHY YOU WILL WANT THIS JOB!
  • $33.00 to $35.50 per hour
  • Health insurance with an employer contribution, plus dental and vision. Coverage starts the 1st of the month after just 30 days
  • 401(k) with a company match after six months
  • Employer-paid life and AD&D insurance, plus optional short-term disability and supplemental life
  • Flexible spending and dependent care accounts
  • Paid sick time, plus paid time off that grows with seniority
  • Paid school breaks, school holidays, and snow days during the school year
