Job summary

The Eisenhower Center is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive OT services to residents and outpatient clients, focusing on enabling independent living skills. You will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include assessment interpretation, treatment planning, and timely documentation. Michigan OT licensure and NBCOT certification are required, with experience in developmental disabilities,

Qualifications

  • MS/Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current OT license in Michigan (NBCOT and MI LARA).
  • Experience with developmental disabilities, neurological concerns, and mental health; brain injury experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat residents and outpatient clients with OT interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust plans of care to maximize independence.
  • Ensure documentation within 48 hours of service delivery.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team and participate in meetings.

Job description

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to assigned residents and outpatient clients. Services include but are not limited to assessment, therapy, skill training, modification of plans of care, and discharge assessment/planning within our facilities. Emphasis is placed on the facilitation of service delivery that enhances the levels of independence in daily living skills.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates adherence to the commitment statement of Eisenhower Center while serving as a member of the multi-disciplinary team approach geared toward patient/resident progress within a habilitation and/or rehabilitation approach based on resident needs.
  • Demonstrates productivity, thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail in the performance of duties.
  • Performs duties while maintaining a safe environment for all clients, staff, and visitors while fostering a positive and therapeutic living environment.
  • Demonstrates reliability, dependability, and promptness in the performance of duties.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness, empathy, compassion in all interactions with colleagues, residents, outpatient clients and external team members.

Assessment:
  • Administers and interpret basic assessment tools to evaluate levels of therapeutic need (by discipline and degree) at admission, discharge and other appropriate times within treatment and/or as requested by funding sources
  • Ensures that treatment recommendations are made based on assessment results, interpretations of scoring and medical necessity criteria
  • Facilitates and ensures all required therapeutic processes for step-down services and discharge of services.
Therapy:
  • Individualize, design and implement effective treatment strategies/plans to meet client needs and goals
  • Delivers individual and group treatment, as needed
  • Participates in team discussions and other clinical and staff meetings as needed
Billable Service Requirements:
  • Provides therapy within discipline by degree and licensure status for 90% of billable caseload per week
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Ensures that all documentation needs are completed within 48-hours of service delivery
  • Prepares daily service, monthly and quarterly progress reports ensuring that all insurance requirements regarding authorization and payment of services is completed within timely filing requirements and guidelines
  • Ensures that the peer-to-peer or other authorization processes as required by varying funding sources is completed effectively to obtain authorization for services within timely filing requirements and guidelines
Ethics:
  • Demonstrate adherence to state practice acts and codes of ethical conduct in all spheres of clinical practice
  • Demonstrate knowledge and adherence to HIPAA policy and to work rules that incorporate disciplinary actions with the HIPAA regulations
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • MS/Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
  • Certification and Licensure in Occupational Therapy by the National Board of Certification of OT, Michigan LARA
  • Experience in treatment of persons diagnosed with developmental disabilities, neurological concerns and mental health diagnoses. Acquired brain injury experience preferred.
