Job summary

TRUMPF North America in Farmington, CT is seeking an Occupational Safety Internship to provide practical experience aligned with coursework. The internship runs onsite from January 2027 to August 2027, with a minimum of 32 hours per week.

During the internship you will engage in hazard and risk assessments, exhaust ventilation and industrial hygiene evaluations, and inspections of life safety and hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university pursuing an undergraduate degree in occupational safety or related field.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Hazard and risk assessment of existing and new processes.
• Exhaust ventilation, noise, and industrial hygiene assessments.
• Life safety, hazardous materials, and physical hazards inspections of buildings and facilities.
• Weekly and monthly waste and chemical storage inspections and reporting.
• Hazardous chemical and Safety Data Sheet document management system maintenance.
• Data collection, analysis, and reporting leading and lagging safety metrics.
• Participation in reviews of key safety programs including Lockout & Tagout, Electrical Safety, and Emergency Response Plans.

TRUMPF is seeking candidates for an Occupational Safety Internship. The Internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and complement their classroom learning.

Internship Duration: Onsite in Farmington, CT from January 2027 - August 2027 At least 32 hours weekly

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

• Hazard and Risk Assessment of existing and new processes
• Exhaust ventilation, noise, and industrial hygiene assessments
• Life safety, hazardous materials, and physical hazards inspections of buildings and facilities
• Weekly and monthly waste and chemical storage facilities inspections and reporting
• Hazardous chemical and Safety Data Sheet document management system maintenance
• Data collection, analysis, and reporting leading and lagging occupational safety metrics
• Participation in reviews of key safety programs, including Lockout & Tagout, Electrical Safety, and Emergency Response Plans.

Qualifications

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is required. Strong inter-personal communication skills and ability to work as a team player.

Education

Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university or institution pursuing an undergraduate’s degree in occupational safety or a related field.
