Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a licensed Occupational Health Nurse to manage on-site medical needs for employees in Columbus, Mississippi. The role requires an RN license, CPR/AED, and 2+ years hospital or clinic nursing experience.

The nurse will lead injury treatment, case management, surveillance, screenings, and drug/alcohol programs while coordinating with safety teams to maintain OSHA standards and health metrics.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice.
• 2+ years hospital or clinic nursing experience.
• Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting.
• Phlebotomy.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Travel, as needed.
• May not be related to another employee at location of employment.

Responsibilities

• Treat on-site injuries and refer to outside medical care as needed.
• Case management for injured workers and facilitate return to work.
• Provide medical surveillance for all employees including annual audiograms, spirometry, vision screening and lead testing.
• Conduct pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and coordinate medical examinations.
• Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses.
• Administer Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy.
• Train employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as Medical Responders to aid in care of injured workers.
• Train employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the Workplace, Ergonomics and Heat Stress per OSHA requirements.
• Advise on Workers’ Compensation claims as needed.
• FMLA Administration.
• Maintain HIPAA compliant documentation.
• Deliver regional health metrics and outcomes.
• Purchase supplies for the first aid clinic.
• Develop and meet site budget expectations.
• Improve health outcomes and reduce health risks to support business outcomes.
• Collaborate with division Safety Coordinators to recognize hazards and prevent injury.
