Job summary

The University of Arizona's Steward Observatory in Safford is seeking a reliable Custodian I for a part-time role (approximately 30 hours per week). The position involves cleaning observatory buildings at Base Camp on Swift Trail and the Mt. Graham site, and doing duties such as general cleaning, annual shutdown tasks, and transporting supplies and laundry.

Applicants must have a high school diploma; prior custodial experience is preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
• Previous custodial experience with cleaning equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• General Cleaning: Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, and trash removal in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas, common spaces, and public restrooms.
• Annual Shutdown Tasks: Deep cleaning including mattress vacuuming, carpet shampooing, wall cleaning, stripping and waxing floors, and fixture maintenance.
• Vehicle & Supply Management: Transporting employees, supplies, and laundry; driving in varying weather conditions which may require the installation and removal of snow chains.
