Job summary

USK Technologies in Houston, TX is seeking a hands-on Observability Engineer with production experience in Cisco ThousandEyes and Cisco AppDynamics to monitor digital experiences and application performance across a global footprint.

You will instrument business-critical applications and network paths, build actionable dashboards and alerts, and collaborate with NOC, IT, and development teams to reduce MTTR for corporate, refinery and field users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on with ThousandEyes and/or AppDynamics in a large enterprise environment; experience with both is strongly preferred.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, routing, TLS, HTTP, proxies, load balancers and SD-WAN.
• Solid application and infrastructure understanding: web and application servers, APIs, containers/Kubernetes, and databases.
• Scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and REST API integration for agent, test and dashboard automation.
• Clear written and verbal communication with both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
• Able to work on-site in Houston, Texas for the duration of the engagement and pass client background screening.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and administer ThousandEyes agents (Cloud, Enterprise and Endpoint) and build tests (HTTP, page-load, transaction, path visualization, BGP, internet-outage).
• Deploy and configure AppDynamics agents (Java, .NET, Node.js, Python) including transactions, endpoints, dashboards and health rules.
• Correlate telemetry across application, network, cloud and SaaS to isolate fault domains.
• Build executive and operational dashboards, SLO/SLI reporting and performance reviews.
• Tune alerting to reduce noise and integrate with ITSM and collaboration tools (ServiceNow, Teams, PagerDuty) and log platforms (Splunk, Grafana, Elastic).
• Support major incident response and post-incident analysis; author runbooks and knowledge articles.
• Baseline and validate performance for cloud and SaaS migrations (Azure, AWS, M365, SAP/ERP).
• Enable NOC, application and infrastructure teams through documentation, training and structured handover.

This is a full‑time on‑site role based in Houston, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and administer ThousandEyes agents (Cloud, Enterprise and Endpoint) and build HTTP, page-load, transaction, path visualization, BGP and internet‑outage tests.
• Deploy and configure AppDynamics agents (Java, .NET, Node.js, Python) including business transactions, service endpoints, dashboards, baselines and health rules.
• Correlate application, network, cloud and SaaS telemetry to isolate fault domains — application code, database, WAN/SD‑WAN, ISP or SaaS provider.
• Build executive and operational dashboards, SLO/SLI reporting and recurring performance reviews.
• Tune alerting to reduce noise and integrate with ITSM and collaboration tooling (ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty) and log platforms (Splunk, Grafana, Elastic).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cisco Splunk Observability, Grafana, Dynatrace, Datadog or New Relic.
• Energy, oil and gas, utility or industrial experience, including awareness of OT and plant network constraints.
• ITIL‑aligned incident, problem and change management experience.
• Observability‑as‑code using Terraform or CI/CD pipelines.
