Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health in Manchester, AL seeks a physician to supervise and provide necessary medical care within the physician’s specialty to Dartmouth-Hitchcock patients, in accordance with DHHC policies, facility directives, and the Medical Director’s guidance.

The physician will rotate on-call duties if required, handle administrative and documentation tasks, order and interpret tests, obtain informed consent, coordinate referrals, and supervise APPs.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical degree required (MD or DO).
• Postgraduate residency training completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
• Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
• Review records and detailed medical history from patients.
• Determine appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Order and interpret screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
• Obtain informed consent for procedures and studies.
• Interpret test results and adjust treatment as needed.
• Prescribe medications and treatments within scope.
• Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
• Facilitate admission/discharge when applicable.
• Provide patient-and-family-centered care and education.
• Ensure patient privacy and informed consent.
• Supervise APPs as directed.
• Engage in continuing medical education (CME).
• Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Physician is responsible for supervising and providing necessary and desirable medical care within the Physician’s specialty to Dartmouth-Hitchcock patients, consistent with the policies and procedures of DHC, the facility at which care is rendered, and the directions of the Medical Director in collaboration with the Service Line Leader or his/her designee.

If the Physician’s specialty is such that call coverage is required, it is expected that the Physician will rotate call coverage with those physicians and allied health professionals in his or her specialty (as applicable) so that each provider, including the Physician, has a comparable amount of on call time during nights, weekends, and holidays for providing coverage outside of standard business hours. Hours that are designated as on call hours will be defined by the departments. Parties expect that while on call, physician shall remain in close proximity as directed by department chair or designee. Patient calls are to be addressed in a timely fashion.

In addition to the Physician’s clinical responsibilities, the Physician will spend sufficient and reasonable time on administrative and record-keeping matters pertaining to the Physician’s medical practice.

• 13. Provide patient and family-centered care.
• 14. Insure the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
• 15. Supervise APP’s as directed.
