Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the OBGYN care team, performing clinical duties, rooming patients, and assisting physicians with procedures.

You will collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient flow, update EPIC records, and ensure high-quality patient experiences. The position offers a $3,000 sign-on for external candidates, excellent benefits within 30 days, PTO, 401K and tuition reimbursement, with a regular Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification may be accepted in lieu of experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program encouraged.
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence in direct patient care and assists MDs with procedures.
• Performs clinical duties within scope of practice per department standards.
• Provides proactive patient care and communicates needs to the care team.
• Directs and escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
• Assists physician or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures.
• Performs vital signs, vision screening and basic laboratory tests as directed.
• Seeks guidance from physicians or nurses when necessary.
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies as instructed.
• Inspects, cleans and prepares instruments/equipment per guidelines.
• Processes specimens for transport to laboratory with proper labeling.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification (NAHP/NCCT/AAMA/AMT/NHA)

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

Current CPR / BLS certification
