Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital to support resident and medical student education, supervise APPs, and advance patient care quality. The role involves clinical oversight in ambulatory and inpatient settings, teaching, and participation in scholarly activities.

Ideal candidates will hold an MD or DO, be Board Certified/Eligible by ABOG, and have demonstrated leadership in a high-reliability healthcare system

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.

• Clinical expertise in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, including minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct residents across obstetrics and gynecology, including outpatient clinics, Labor & Delivery, and inpatient care.
• Promote evidence-based medicine in clinical practice and education.
• Supervise Yale School of Medicine medical students in clinical and didactic settings.
• Provide oversight and mentorship to APPs and midlevel providers in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
• Serve on departmental, hospital, and medical staff committees as requested.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in the academic and clinical missions of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology through the education and supervision of residents, medical students, and Physician Assistant students. This position includes oversight of Advanced Practice Providers in both ambulatory and inpatient settings and requires a strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and high-reliability healthcare practices. The faculty member will actively participate in scholarly activities, continuing medical education, and faculty development programs while contributing to the advancement of clinical care, education, and research across the health system.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and instruction to residents across all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology, including outpatient continuity clinics, Labor and Delivery, major and minor surgical procedures, and inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care.
• Teach and promote evidence-based medicine principles within clinical practice and educational settings.
• Supervise and educate Yale School of Medicine medical students in both clinical and didactic environments.
• Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to advanced practice providers (APPs) and other midlevel providers in ambulatory and inpatient settings.

• Champion and contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Qualifications

Education

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.

Experience

• Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, including minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
• Experience in administrative leadership within a high-reliability healthcare organization.
• Supervisory experience involving resident physicians and medical students.
• Proven teaching experience in medical education utilizing evidence-based educational models.

Licensure

• Current and unrestricted Connecticut Medical License (or eligibility to obtain).
• Current Medical Staff appointment with specialty-appropriate clinical privileges.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Interest and training in gynecologic ultrasound.
• Experience in clinical research methodology and statistical analysis.
• Experience providing family planning services.

Physical and Health Requirements

• MMR vaccination required.
• Varicella (chickenpox) vaccination or documented evidence of prior infection required.

• Annual influenza vaccination strongly encouraged.
