Job description

OB-Focused OB/GYN Physician
Headline

For the OB/GYN who loves obstetrics more than gynecology: build an OB-focused practice with strong clinical support, flexible scheduling options, and the ability to refer GYN care to general OB/GYN and MIGS colleagues.

Overview & Highlights
  • Location: Arizona — multiple practice opportunities based on current OB demand
  • Schedule: Full-time with potential for four 10-hour days or reduced FTE when staffing allows
  • Compensation: $300,000-$550,000 guaranteed physician base depending on experience and position structure, plus work RVU productivity bonus; highly productive physicians may earn $800,000+ annually
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, life insurance, and long-term disability
  • Sign-On / Relocation: $50,000-$100,000 typical physician sign-on bonus; relocation reimbursement available
  • Additional Opportunities: Customized loan repayment arrangements and compensated leadership opportunities may be considered
Location & Logistics
  • Work Environment: Primarily obstetric practice within a privately owned, physician-led organization
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 20-30 patients per day depending on practice and schedule
  • Hospital Coverage: Physicians generally focus on one primary hospital while maintaining privileges at a nearby secondary hospital
  • Call Expectations: OB call required; rotations generally range from approximately 1:3 to 1:7 depending on office staffing
  • Travel: Most affiliated hospitals are approximately 3-5 miles apart
  • Start Timeline: Immediate OB coverage needs exist. We are hiring for the right long-term fit and can be flexible on timing for physicians considering either an immediate move or a planned transition.
About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

This role is for an OB/GYN who wants obstetrics to be the center of their practice. All affiliated practices currently need additional OB coverage due to patient growth and call demands, creating an opportunity to build a sustainable OB-focused patient base.

Your clinic schedule will focus primarily on obstetric patients, with the exact OB-to-GYN mix determined by the individual practice. If you prefer to minimize gynecology, GYN needs may be referred to general OB/GYN colleagues or the MIGS team, allowing you to concentrate more heavily on pregnancy care and deliveries.

Clinical support is designed to keep physicians focused on patient care. NPs and PAs assist with labs, inbox management, and follow-up, while medical assistants and AI scribes help reduce documentation burden. Dedicated charting time is also built into the morning and afternoon schedule.

OB call is part of the position, typically centered on one primary hospital. Depending on the location and staffing model, hospitalists may provide secondary-hospital coverage or pick up call shifts to support the physician team.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Build a practice around obstetrics rather than a traditional equal OB/GYN split
  • Refer GYN care to general OB/GYN or MIGS colleagues when appropriate
  • Physician-led, privately owned organization with plans to remain independent
  • APP, medical assistant, and AI scribe support, plus dedicated charting time
  • Potential for four 10-hour days or reduced FTE when staffing permits
  • Productivity model provides meaningful upside for physicians who want to build volume
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, obstetric, and postpartum care
  • Manage routine and higher-acuity obstetric patients within your clinical scope
  • Perform deliveries and obstetric procedures
  • Participate in OB call according to the practice rotation
  • Maintain continuity between outpatient prenatal care and hospital-based delivery care
  • Evaluate gynecologic concerns within the agreed scope of the position
  • Refer appropriate GYN cases to general OB/GYN or MIGS colleagues
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing teams, and hospital-based clinicians
  • Maintain timely clinical documentation with available scribe and staff support
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families throughout pregnancy and postpartum care
  • Participate in quality, safety, and care-coordination initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO with completed OB/GYN residency training
  • Qualified to practice obstetrics and participate in OB call
  • Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Board-eligible physicians must remain within the applicable eligibility window and obtain board certification within three years of employment
  • Eligible for Arizona medical licensure; active Arizona license preferred
  • Eligible for applicable hospital privileges and credentialing
  • Strong clinical, teamwork, and patient communication skills
  • Clear English communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interest in developing a long-term, OB-focused practice
  • Early- to mid-career physicians are of particular interest based on patient and long-term workforce needs
  • Collaborative approach to working with general OB/GYN and MIGS physicians
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities; a language stipend may be considered with appropriate medical-language verification
  • J-1 and H-1B candidates may be considered depending on the opportunity, with J-1 preferred
