Job summary

Arlington Public Schools in Arlington, Virginia, on-site, seeks three hourly FTES for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Program (Shriver). This Special Education Assistant role works under teacher direction to support both special needs and general education students.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma (or higher), Associate Degree or 60 college hours, and may demonstrate Parapro test scoring. Reliable, flexible team players who can communicate with parents are preferred.

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of the educational needs of special education and general education students, which includes, but not limited to, assistance with physical, or sensory needs.
• Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
• Meet the requirements of the NCLB and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
• A high school diploma, and an Associate Degree or two years of college study.
• At least 60 semester hours, OR
• A score of at least 455 on the Parapro Test.
• Experience working with student with special needs.
• Experience working in an elementary school setting.
