Job summary

Recurrent Energy is searching for an O&M Field Technician to support solar farm and rooftop project maintenance. The role requires troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance to meet uptime and production targets. You will work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and schematics are essential. NABCEP certification is a plus; a valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of hands-on field work experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or similar).
• NABCEP Certification is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
• Good written and verbal English communication; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot daily project system issues to meet uptime goals.
• Follow maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Identify and propose corrective actions for potential problems.
• Coordinate with team, subcontractors, and other groups to improve system performance and reduce maintenance costs.
• Ensure CMMS work orders are completed and procurement documents prepared.

Job Title: O&M Field Technician

Department: Operations & Maintenance

Reports to: Regional O&M Manager

Position Summary

Recurrent Energy is currently seeking an O&M Field Technician for our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Division. The O&M Field Technician will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of project equipment related to any operational solar farms or rooftop projects. The successful candidate will have strong electrical/ mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting techniques, and organizational skills to drive and achieve project uptime and production targets of projects and must be capable of working independently or within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot daily project system issues to meet uptime goals.
• Understand hourly production output targets and if there is any danger of not meeting them, execute a plan for correction or elevation of the situation.
• Follow maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance (PMs, start-up tests, etc.) on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed before elevating the problems to Operations & Maintenance Manager.
• Identify potential problems and suggest changes or corrective actions.
• Work with other members of the maintenance team, sub-contractors and other groups to continuously improve system performance, drive product quality and maintenance cost improvement.
• Communicate cross-functionally across all necessary parts of the organization to achieve resolution to plant issues.
• Ensure CMMS work orders are complete in their entirety. Prepare documents necessary for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot various project systems issues such as inverters, switchgear, transformers, breakers, communications equipment, etc.
• Provide operation, maintenance and troubleshooting training to operators and others as needed.
• Assist in developing standard operating documents for maintenance, operations and training.
• Assist with project commissioning and testing providing knowledge expertise.
• Attend and participate in all assigned trainings in safety, environmental, and other areas as assigned.
• Oversee and Supervise sub-contractors.
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies.
• Conduct other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-5+ years of hands-on experience in field work; renewable energy (Solar, wind or similar) environment is an asset.
• NABCEP Certification is a plus.
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing various types of electrical machinery and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
• Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be willing to work outside normal daytime hours of 8am to 5:00pm (plus nights and weekends) responding to emergency service or project equipment issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
