Position Type: Part Time – 0–19 hours, Weekends Only

Salary Range: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Provide supports identified by the Person-Centered Planning Team.
• Communicate and coordinate with families, the planning team, day program and other service providers.
• Teach, support, and perform household tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation, budgeting, and food shopping.
• Assist individuals in developing daily living skills in accordance with their Person- Centered Plan.
• Monitor medication, assist with medication administration or teach independent use.
• Provide crisis intervention, first aid or CPR and other assistance when needed.
• Plan, coordinate and participate in social activities with the individuals.
• Participate in assessment activities and the Person-Centered Planning Team as appropriate.
• Transport individuals and provide mobility training for appointments, shopping or events.
• Communicate and document activities and behaviors in the electronic health record and client files.
• Prepare meals according to a menu that reflects preferences and prescribed diets.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings required by the program.
• Inspect homes, report repair and maintenance needs, and enforce safety and sanitation procedures.
• Monitor visitors to the home as necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas policies and procedures.
• Document all services in the electronic case management system daily.
• Work cooperatively and respectfully with the entire support team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or IEP.
• Minimum one year of experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities; less experience may be considered with enhanced supervision.
• Medication Administration Certification preferred, required by end of introductory period.
• Must pass all required trainings, new‑hire orientation, and maintain current certifications as required by CMS or governmental entities.
• Proficient computer skills for documentation.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving ability.
• Pass local and state background checks and drug testing.
• Bilingual in any language is an advantage.

Physical Requirements

• Operate a motor vehicle to transport self, individuals, and program supplies.
• Stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic home maintenance activities.
• Operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
• Remain in a sitting position for extended periods.
• Occupational exceptions may apply to ensure gender representation on duty.
