Job summary

BARNES & NOBLE COLLEGE seeks a Campus Retail Associate to deliver excellent customer service and support daily store operations. You’ll assist with sales, greet customers, handle cash/register transactions, and keep shelves tidy, ensuring a positive visitor experience in a fast-paced campus environment.

Position is temporary with weekly availability for up to 90 days, including weekends, with opening, midday, or closing shifts. Virginia pay includes benefits and discount options for employees.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Outstanding attitude with willingness to learn and excel in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Responsibilities

Physical Demands

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.

Virginia Pay Transparency Information (Only applicable in Virginia stores)

Pay: Temporary Bookseller pay rate: $13.00/hr.
