Virginia Tech's Northwest District Office seeks a Community Health Worker to link community members with health and social services. The role focuses on education, outreach, and support to improve nutrition security and health outcomes.

You will deliver evidence-based health promotion programs, conduct presentations and workshops on nutrition, physical activity, and resource management, and help connect participants to local organizations. Non-exempt, overtime eligible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Complete the 60-hour Virginia-approved CHW training within two months of employment.
• Knowledge of local/regional community and culture.
• Experience with diverse populations, especially those with limited resources.
• Experience communicating educational information and helping individuals develop skills for healthy eating and active living.
• Excellent written, verbal and listening skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated computer literacy (Word, Excel, email, video-conferencing).
• Ability to learn and adopt new technology tools.
