Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Public Health is seeking a Regional WIC Clinic Coordinator headquartered at the Rock Hill Health Department. You will coordinate, supervise, and support WIC Clinic Team Leads delivering WIC services, with responsibilities including certifications, audits, and staff training.

You’ll participate in leadership discussions, drive program quality, and supervise clinic operations regionally to meet WIC regulations and agency policy.

This position is headquartered at the Rock Hill Health Department (York County)

Under the limited supervision of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program Manager, functions as the Regional WIC Clinic Coordinator. Coordinate, supervise and provide support to WIC Clinic Team Leads delivering WIC Services. Conduct WIC certifications, audits and training as needed.

  • Supervision - Knowledgeable of current WIC regulations, policies, and procedures, and assures these are implemented within specified time frames in clinic sites. Interprets current policy and procedures to regional and county personnel. Assist the program Manager in recruiting, hiring, orienting, training of the WIC Clinical Team Leads (Nutritionists and Administrative). Responsible for the direct supervision of Clinic Team Leaders. Will be a member of the WIC Leadership Team. Collaborates with clinic operational management (e.g., regional operations directors, health department managers, administrative managers) in the development, implementation, and monitoring of performance strategy, objectives, and goals related to operations. Perform or schedule quality assurance activities such as staff observations, class reviews, and program audits as required by WIC Program and agency policy. Oversees the outreach activities to providers and the community to assist in building and/or increasing the caseload. Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and works with other program staff and disciplines to enhance integration and quality of service. Complete regular site visits to ensure WIC program compliance. Monitors clinic schedules and clinic coverage.
  • Direct Services - Provide WIC certifications according to WIC regulations. Maintain working knowledge of SCWIC. Assure participants receive quality customer service, to include eWIC card, formula, and breast pump issuance, etc. Investigates, resolves, provides follow-up, and reports internal and external customer service complaints according to policy.
  • Performance Improvement - Leads and monitors WIC staff service performance, and outcomes of service deliveries within the health department. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of staff productivity standards. Review and make recommendations on staffing needs to the WIC Program Manager. Update professional skills and knowledge to ensure delivery of quality services. Participate in continuing education opportunities. Complete and maintain advance certification(s) as applicable. Oversee the professional development and training of the staff supervised.
  • Completes the Employee Performance Management System in accordance with Agency guidelines, provides mentoring and feedback to build competencies; promotes the implementation of the agency’s Strategic Plan. Acts as the reviewer for staff and their team. Contributes to the development, implementation, and monitoring of organizational performance standards. Provide mentoring and feedback to build competencies.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned related to the position, including required travel if requested, and responds as directed during emergencies which may occur outside normal work hours, and travel if requested.
State Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements

Experience; an associate degree and five (5) years program management experience; or a high school diploma and six (6) years of program management experience. Educational equivalency must be approved by the Office of Human Resources.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications, subject to approval by the SCDPH Chief Human Resources Officer, or their delegate.
