Job summary

Nampa School District is seeking a part-time, classified hourly Nutrition Services worker to assist in food preparation and meal service across various schools. The role focuses on serving meals, following safety standards, and maintaining accurate production records.

You will read recipes, measure ingredients, and contribute to nutrition program compliance with USDA guidelines, Idaho Food Code, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; nutrition service experience preferred.
  • SNA Certification Level 1 and USDA Professional Standards required, minimum 6 hours CE yearly.
  • Ability to read safety rules, recipes and production records; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparation of food as assigned.
  • Ensures meals served meet USDA requirements for a reimbursable tray.
  • Ensures kitchen tasks follow District, State Dept. of Ed., USDA, Idaho Food Code standards.
  • Logs time, temperature and amount of food on production records.
  • Completes serving and cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Follows proper food handling to maintain food quality and safety.
  • Serves meals to adults and students during service hours.
  • Operates equipment safely and cleans equipment properly.
  • Reads measuring devices; reads recipes and production records.
  • Attends required trainings; maintains yearly Professional Standards training.
  • Supports the district's mission and Child Nutrition Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists in preparation of food as assigned
  • Ensures meals served meet USDA requirements for a reimbursable tray.
  • Ensures that all kitchen tasks follow the District, State Dept. of Ed., USDA, and Idaho Food Code standards
  • Logs time, temperature and amount of food prepared on production records
  • Completes serving and cleaning duties as assigned
  • Follows proper food handling to maintain food quality and ensure food safety
  • Serves meals to adults and students through the line during service hours
  • Uses proper operation of equipment to assure safety and avoid damage to equipment
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment properly
  • Ability to read and understand measuring devices
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and production records
  • Attends all required trainings and attains yearly Professional Standards training requirements
  • Supports the philosophy and mission of the Nampa School District and the Child Nutrition Department
  • Other duties as assigned

Education And/Or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; equivalent combination of education and nutrition service experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

SNA Certification Level 1, and USDA Required Professional Standards, minimum of 6 hours of continuing education/training yearly.

Additional Skills

Ability to work with fellow employees, district staff and vendors providing a quality level of customer service.

LANGUAGE And WRITING SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or employees of the district.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
