Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Nutrition Service Aide in Lubbock, Texas. In this role, you'll prepare therapeutic diets and assist in crafting meals for patients and staff. Responsibilities include interpreting recipes, maintaining food safety, and delivering patient trays. Ideal candidates will have food handler's permits and experience in institutional cooking. Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperature for both hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble/deliver late patient trays as needed.
• Portion and garnish food according to menus.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperature for both hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow written and/or verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble/deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet time tables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.

Qualifications

• Possession of a food handler's permit, if mandated by state or county regulations.
• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets preferred.
• Recent institutional cooking experience and special function cooking experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines preferred.
• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed.
