Job summary

Encompass Health seeks a Nutrition Services Clerk to support therapeutic and modified diets for patients and to prepare meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. You will update menus, verify diet orders, and gather patient preferences to ensure accurate nutrition services in a caring hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in nutrition services or diet clerk roles in healthcare settings preferred.
• Knowledge of patient diet orders and ability to update menus and kardex.
• Basic food safety and sanitation knowledge or food handler permit may be required by state/county regulations.

Responsibilities

• Distributes and collects menus and assists patients with diet orders.
• Updates patient kardex to include diet changes and documents nourishments as ordered.
• Gathers patient food preferences and allergies and records nutritional history.
• Completes production sheets and documents special food requests.
• Checks patient tray lines to ensure accuracy to diet, patient request, and garnishing.
• Prepares and checks early trays and ensures food carts leave the kitchen on schedule.
• Performs cleaning duties.

Become the Nutrition Services Clerk you always wanted to be

Qualifications

• Possession of a food handler's permit, if mandated by state or county regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one-year experience as a Diet Clerk/Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility preferred.
