Job summary

Illinois Institute of Technology's Center for Nutrition Research (CNR) in Chicago seeks a Research Associate to advance data analytics and statistical methods across nutrition-related studies. This role partners with investigators to harness biomedical data and support diverse research objectives.

You will analyze complex datasets, contribute to grants and publications, and ensure robust data security and scientific integrity in a collaborative, on-site setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math or a related field with experience working with nutrition, clinical, medical, or health data and peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience with statistical, computational, or data-driven analysis using large or complex datasets in research, healthcare, biomedical, or public health environments.
• Proficiency with programming, data analysis, ML, AI, visualization, and database tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, able to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining confidentiality and data security.
• CITI certification or willingness to obtain within first five workdays at no cost to employee.

Responsibilities

• Apply statistical, data science, and machine learning methods to biomedical, nutrition, clinical, and population health data.
• Prepare, analyze, validate, and interpret complex datasets including clinical, biomarker, genomic, survey, and digital health data.
• Collaborate with Principal Investigators and research teams to support study objectives, analytical plans, grant and contract deliverables.
• Contribute analyses and scientific content for reports, manuscripts, presentations, proposals, and publications.
• Maintain accurate research documentation and follow data management, quality control, confidentiality, and security practices.
• Complete and maintain required training, authorizations, and access for secure research systems and databases.
