Job summary

The Idaho Foodbank seeks a Nutrition Program Lead to act as the statewide subject matter expert for nutrition education, standards, and related services. This role develops and maintains nutrition curricula, resources, SOPs, and training to ensure consistent, high-quality programming across regions.

Working with staff, volunteers, and partners, you will promote continuous improvement, QA, and integrated program delivery while aligning with regional coordinators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or related field.
• Minimum of three years in nutrition education, programming or public health.
• Knowledge of nutrition education, food systems, and USDA/food assistance programs.
• Ability to train and coach staff, volunteers, and partners without direct supervision.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail.

The Nutrition Program Lead serves as The Idaho Foodbank’s statewide subject matter expert for nutrition education, nutrition standards, and nutrition-related services. Working closely with the Director of Health & Nutrition, this role develops andmaintainsnutrition curriculum, educational resources, standard operating procedures, and training to support consistent, high-quality nutrition programming across all regions.The Nutrition Program Lead provides technical guidance and program support to staff, volunteers, and community partners while promoting continuous improvement, quality assurance, and consistent implementation of nutrition programs and standards. This position collaborates closely with theregionalCommunity Health & Nutrition Coordinators to support integrated programming and advance departmental goals. Duties and responsibilities may evolve to meet current and future organizational needs.

PrincipleDuties and Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary internal resource and subject matter expert for nutrition education programming, nutrition standards, and nutrition-related services.
• Develop,maintain, and update nutrition curricula,recipes, newsletters,toolkits, and program resources to support consistent statewide implementation.
• Provide training,technicalassistance, andinstructionalcoachingto Community Health & Nutrition Coordinators, volunteers, and community partners onprogram deliveryto strengthen nutrition education and participant engagement.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of nutrition education programs and initiatives.
• Ensure nutrition programming is culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and accessible to diverse communities, includingappropriate adaptationsfor language, literacy, and cultural food practices.
• Support volunteer and community partner engagement by providing nutrition-related training, guidance, and resources.
• Promote consistent use of nutrition resources, including the Nutrition Toolkit, pantry assessment tools, outreach materials, and educational curricula.
• Maintain and support implementation of The Idaho Foodbank’s nutrition framework and food categorization standards.
• Assess and categorize food products according to established nutrition standards to support organizational nutrition goals.
• Collaborate with sourcing, inventory, operations, and program teams to integrate nutrition standards into food acquisition and distribution processes.
• Lead menu planning, recipe review, and nutrition analysis for specialized nutrition-focused programs, including School Backpack and other targeted initiatives.
• Stay informed on current nutrition science, foodassistancetrends, and best practices and recommend updates to resources and standards asappropriate.

Program Administration & QualityImprovement

• Develop andmaintainstandard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training materials to support consistent program delivery statewide.
• Monitor program participation, outcomes, and reporting requirements to support evaluation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain program records, databases, and documentation systems related to nutrition programming.
• Support collection and management of participant surveys, waivers, and program datain accordance withorganizational and funding requirements.
• Identifyopportunities for program enhancement and recommend improvements based on data, participant feedback, and best practices.
• Support quality assurance efforts to ensure nutrition programs and resources are implemented consistently across regions.

Collaboration & Communications

• Collaborate with the Community Health Program Lead and Community Health & Nutrition Coordinators toalignnutrition and community health initiatives, including resources, outreach efforts, and community engagement activities.
• Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop nutrition‑related content, educational materials, success stories, and outreach resources.
• Support cross‑functionalinitiativeswith collaborative efforts that advance nutrition, food security, and community health.
• Communicate program outcomes, trends, and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Represent The Idaho Foodbank attrainings, conferences, community meetings, and partner events as needed.

Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nutrition, dietetics, nutrition education, public health, ora relatedfield. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Idaho Licensed Dietitian (LD) preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience in nutrition education, nutrition programming, community nutrition, public health, ora relatedfield.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition education, food systems, foodassistanceprograms, and community‑based nutrition initiatives.
• Ability to train, coach, and support staff, volunteers, and community partners without direct supervisory authority.
• Strong organizational,project coordination, and planningskills withexceptional attention to detail andthe ability to manage multiple priorities and statewide initiatives.
• Experience with data collection, reporting, program evaluation, and quality improvement processes.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with diverse audiences.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments and regions.
• Must obtain Manager’s-LevelServSafeCertification and maintain adherence to food safety standards.
• Ability to travel statewide; valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurancerequired.
• Spanish language skills (verbal and written) preferred.

Working Conditions

Work takes place in various office, kitchen, and community‑based settings bothwithin and outsideofThe Idaho Foodbank. The rolerequiresextensive computer and smartphoneuse. The employee will regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds,such asfood and classroom supplies. Inclasssettings, standing and working at counters or stoves for extended periods may berequired. Workmayoccasionally occuroutsideofnormalbusinesshours, including evenings and weekends,to support program delivery and partner engagement. Regular travel within the communityandacross the statemay berequired, withmileage reimbursement provided.
