Job summary

Acelero Learning Camden Philadelphia is seeking a Nutrition & Food Coordinator to ensure CACFP compliance and promote child wellness by providing nutritional services that supplement home and community nutrition. You will review assessments, develop menus, counsel families, and support staff in classroom nutrition activities.

Responsibilities include menu development, purchasing input, and collaboration with leadership to integrate nutrition components across the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or a related field.
  • Health Department CACFP preferred.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Complete physical exam and background checks.
  • Travel locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Review each child’s nutritional needs assessment within 90 days of entry; refer for action.
  • Review nutritional and health information for returning children at least once during the program year.
  • Provide support, resources, and action plans for health/food referrals.
  • Support education staff in implementing classroom nutritional activities.
  • Provide nutritional counseling to families as requested or based on assessments.
  • Develop and evaluate menus to meet each child’s nutritional needs and ensure cultural relevance.
  • Input on purchasing practices to maximize food service funds; attend meetings.
  • Collaborate with leadership on implementing nutritional components.
  • Participate in the Health Services Advisory Committee.
  • Perform CACFP self‑monitoring reviews as required.
  • Notify Food Service Manager or Director of safety/health concerns.
  • Ensure standardized recipes are followed and quantities meet CACFP meal requirements.
  • Monitor menu acceptance and recommend changes.
  • Solicit menu ideas from families for cultural relevance and new foods.
  • Plan food-related experiences with program staff.

Education

Position Overview

The Nutrition & Food Coordinator ensures compliance with HeadStart Performance Standards, promoting each child’s wellness by providing nutritional services that supplement home and community nutrition, and ensuring the health and well‑being of children served in the program.

Responsibilities
  • Review each child’s nutritional needs assessment within 90 days of entry; recommend and refer for appropriate action.

  • Provide individual or group nutritional counseling to families as requested or based on assessments.
  • Develop, review, modify, and evaluate menus to meet the nutritional needs of each child, ensuring cultural relevance.
  • Provide input on purchasing practices to maximize use of food service funds and attend food services meetings.
  • Collaborate with leadership on implementing nutritional components.
  • Participate in the Health Services Advisory Committee.
  • Perform CACFP self‑monitoring reviews as required.
  • Notify Food Service Manager or Director of Operations about safety or health concerns.

Compensation

$61,679 annually.
