University of Florida is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Education Facilitator for EFNEP in Escambia County. The role delivers learner-centered nutrition lessons, coordinates with local partners, and supports participant success through evidence-based curricula.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills. Occasional travel and weekend availability may be required to meet program needs and recruitment goals.

Responsabilités

• Connects participants with Extension programs and resources, including SNAP, when appropriate.
• Travel throughout the county to conduct nutrition education programs, recruit participants, and attend meetings; occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Maintains accurate records and submits required reports on time; adheres to UF and EFNEP requirements.

Program Delivery

Promotes EFNEP and recruits eligible youth and adult participants through community outreach and partnerships.

Develops and maintains positive working relationships with community organizations to coordinate nutrition education programs, communicate program expectations, and support participant success.

Deliver engaging, learner-centered, nutrition education using approved, evidence-based curricula that are responsive to participants’ age, culture, language, literacy level, and learning needs. Delivers instruction through a structured curriculum consisting of a minimum of six lessons for each participant group to promote lasting behavior change.

Collects required participant information and administers approved evaluation tools to measure program participation, knowledge gain, and behavior change while maintaining participant confidentiality.

Connects participants with Extension programs, community resources, and public assistance programs, including SNAP, when appropriate.

Represents EFNEP at health fairs, community events, and outreach activities to increase program awareness, strengthen partnerships, and recruit participants.

Planning

Plans and coordinates nutrition education programs by scheduling classes with community partners, organizing instructional materials, supplies and equipment, and ensuring classroom logistics support successful program delivery. Adapts activities to meet participant needs while maintaining fidelity to approved curricula and compliance with program requirements.

Training

Participates in orientation, required trainings, and ongoing professional development to strengthen nutrition knowledge, teaching practices, cultural responsiveness, technology skills, and program implementation. Applies supervisor feedback and new learning to improve program quality and participant outcomes.

Travel

Travels throughout the assigned county to conduct nutrition education programs, recruit participants, and participate in required meetings and trainings. Occasional overnight travel is required for annual statewide training.

Reporting

Maintains accurate and timely participant, program, travel, and administrative records in accordance with University, EFNEP, and USDA NIFA requirements. Submits required reports and documentation by established deadlines and protects participant confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

Nutrition Educator Certification

Nutrition Educator will achieve and maintain food safety certification (SafeStaff).

Working Hours

Normal work schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Required work on nights and weekends when assigned due to the nature of the program.

Expected Salary

$19.20 per hour

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable daily transportation

Preferred

• Background in nutrition, and health education, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate group learning
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Ability to work with adults and youth in the community
• Knowledge of local community and its available resources
• Experience with food preparation, cooking demonstrations, or food safety
• Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills.
• Comfortable speaking with individuals and groups in both in-person and virtual settings.
• Ability to lift and carry teaching materials and/or supplies weighing up to 45 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors while delivering lessons.

Location

This is a time-limited, grant funded position in EFNEP Escambia County Extension at 3740 Stefani Road, Cantonment, FL 32533.

This position is eligible for veteran’s preference.
