Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Certify potential low‑risk participants for the WIC program in accordance with DHM 150‑24, following all policies for data collection, entry, and management, and operating WIC computer equipment as described in the WIC System Guide.
• Provide culturally relevant nutrition education to individual clients in the areas of infant, childhood, prenatal and postnatal nutrition, including breastfeeding, to promote healthy development and maintenance of good nutrition. Develop, monitor, evaluate, and revise nutrition education plans for clients not at medically high risk. Select, develop, and evaluate client educational materials. Coordinate nutrition education services and make referrals for appropriate services.
• Evaluate program eligibility status for each client to ensure valid issuance of electronic benefits. Issue WIC electronic benefits in accordance with DHM 150‑24 and the Florida WiSE System Manual. Schedule appointments through the WIC appointment system and review electronic benefits usage at approved stores. Answer client questions regarding program services and ensure eligibility determinations and benefit issuance functions remain separate for program integrity.
• Prepare employee activity reports of time and services provided and summarize nutrition services and activities at biweekly intervals. Submit expense reimbursement requests as per established procedures.
• Attend staff meetings, in‑service training sessions, and other professional development activities.
• Perform other related duties as requested or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Obtain height and weight measurements using standard equipment.
• Analyze and interpret anthropometric, biochemical, dietary, and clinical data.
• Apply basic mathematical calculations.
• Understand WIC program policies and procedures.
• Maintain current knowledge of nutrition and dietetics science and practice.
• Apply nutritional and dietary assessment techniques.
• Know the nutritional needs of WIC clients.
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in one or more languages.
• Develop and apply educational and training techniques.
• Document records using accepted methods (SOAP).
• Know local DOH programs, services, and community agencies.
• Use the Florida WiSE data system.
• Organize work and meet deadlines.
• Analyze and compile data.
• Be self‑motivated and flexible.
• Use Microsoft Edge, Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and Google Chrome.

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics, food and nutrition, or food service management.
• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Full‑time in‑office availability; must be willing to physically work on site.
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Willingness to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours or days in emergency situations, including deployment.
