St Mary Corwin Hospital is seeking an entry-level Nutrition Assistant I to support patient meals and foodservice operations. You will work with facility staff to ensure nutritious, safe meals and friendly service throughout daily shifts.

The role emphasizes compliance with hygiene standards, accurate meal portions, and responsive customer care, including cashiering and food preparation tasks within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No experience necessary.
  • If a Food Handler Permit is a requirement by your state, county or local health code, you must obtain it within 30 days of hire or as required by your jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Follow healthcare foodservice standards, monitor temperatures, prevent cross-contamination, and maintain hygiene.
  • Label and store all food products and equipment per guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve food based on menu and dietary needs, addressing allergy requests.
  • Ensure high-quality customer experience by adhering to meal portioning and presentation standards.
  • Perform cashiering, retail service, cold food preparation, and patient tray assembly, delivery, and retrieval.
  • Complete utility and maintenance tasks including dishwashing, catering support, inventory management, and general cleaning.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nutrition Assistant I, you will participate in and support all aspects of healthcare foodservice operations. You will play an integral role in ensuring that our food service processes are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Every day, you will work alongside facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care to our patients. Your contributions will help ensure that we meet the dietary and wellness needs of those we serve.

  • Follow healthcare foodservice industry standards and regulations, including monitoring food temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and adhering to strict personal hygiene and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain proper labeling and storage protocols for all food products, equipment, and machinery in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve food based on menu and dietary requirements, utilizing necessary kitchen equipment while remaining knowledgeable of ingredients to address food allergy requests.
  • Ensure a high-quality customer experience by following organizational standards for proper meal portioning and aesthetically pleasing presentation.
  • Perform essential operational tasks, including cashiering, retail service, cold food preparation, and the assembly, delivery, and retrieval of patient trays.
  • Complete necessary utility and maintenance assignments, such as dishwashing, catering support, inventory management, and general cleaning of equipment and work areas.
