Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Colorado Springs is seeking a Nutrition Assistant I to support healthcare foodservice operations and provide optimal nutritional care to patients. You will work with facility staff to ensure processes run efficiently, while delivering courteous service to patients, guests, and staff in a professional environment.

Duties include following foodservice standards, accurate labeling and storage, preparing and serving meals according to menu and dietary needs, managing portions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• No experience required.
• If a Food Handler Permit is a requirement by your state, county or local health code, obtain it within 30 days of hire or as required by your health code.

Responsibilities

• Follow healthcare foodservice standards and regulations, including monitoring food temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and adhering to strict personal hygiene and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain proper labeling and storage protocols for all food products, equipment, and machinery in accordance with facility guidelines.
• Prepare and serve food based on menu and dietary requirements, utilizing necessary kitchen equipment while addressing food allergy requests.
• Ensure a high-quality customer experience by following organizational standards for proper meal portioning and aesthetically pleasing presentation.
• Perform essential operational tasks, including cashiering, retail service, cold food preparation, and the assembly, delivery, and retrieval of patient trays.
• Complete necessary utility and maintenance assignments, such as dishwashing, catering support, inventory management, and general cleaning of equipment and work areas.
