Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is seeking a Nutrition Assistant to support food service for patients and staff. You will prepare and deliver meal trays, assist with food prep, maintain sanitation, and ensure food safety while providing friendly, patient-centered service.

The role requires one year of food service experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Work at a 25-bed critical access hospital with a 24/7 meal service capability and a focus on quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Follows dietary guidelines, prepares meals, nourishments, snacks and supplements per orders.
• Explains basic therapeutic diets to patients and families and escalates complex questions to clinical support.
• Collects patient food preferences and distributes meals accordingly for diet orders.
• Operates electronic diet office software and accesses patient diet orders and nutritional reports in the EHR.
• Performs cleaning of equipment and work areas, including trays lines, coolers, and offices.
• Delivers high-quality service and ensures patient satisfaction while following procedures.

Job Summary And Responsibilities As our Nutrition Assistant, you will assist in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient food services to patients and staff. Every day you will prepare and deliver meal trays, assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, ensure food safety compliance, and interact with patients regarding dietary needs. To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong food safety knowledge, and excellent customer service, contributing to a positive dining experience.

• Dietary Compliance & Preparation: Follows therapeutic diet guidelines, allergy restrictions, and prepares meals, nourishments, snacks, and supplements accordingly, utilizing production tools
• Patient Communication & Education: Explains basic therapeutic diet orders and menus to patients and families, escalating complex nutrition questions to clinical support
• Preference Collection & Distribution: Collects patient food preferences, ensures compliance with diet orders, and distributes preferences for timely menu planning
• Electronic System Proficiency: Operates electronic diet office software and navigates electronic health records to access patient diet orders and nutritional reports
• General Cleaning & Sanitation: Performs regular cleaning of equipment and work areas, including tray lines, coolers, office areas, and emptying trash
• Customer Service & Support: Ensures patient satisfaction regarding dietary needs while adhering to all established procedures and protocols

CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is a 25 bed critical access hospital with a Level V Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. Our hospital has been committed to providing patients quality medical treatment in the Turtle Lake area and surrounding communities since 1952. The hospital's affiliation with major medical centers and health care agencies has allowed it to expand its health care services through a network that begins at the local level. CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is equipped with 2 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. Our patients have access to 24/7 emergency care, swing-bed programs, and acute care services.

Pay Range

$15.00 - $20.12 /hour
