Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Nutrition Assistant to support healthcare foodservice operations, ensuring safe, nutritious meals and excellent patient and staff service.

You will follow food safety guidelines, prepare and serve meals per dietary requirements, and assist with cashier, stocking, cleaning and tray service as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• One year of food service or customer service experience.
• Arizona Food Handler Permit or Arizona ServSafe Certification within 30 days of hire.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows healthcare foodservice standards, monitors temperatures, prevents cross-contamination, and labels and stores food per guidelines.
• Prepares and serves food according to menu and dietary requirements, and responds to allergy questions.
• Ensures high quality patient and customer experience with proper meal portioning and presentation.
• Supports team in cashier, retail, stocking, cleaning, tray service, dishwashing, storage and prep.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nutrition Assistant, you will participate in and support all aspects of healthcare foodservice operations. You will work with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care and demonstrate excellent customer service to patients, guests and staff.

Every day you will ensure food safety and cleanliness and provide customer service within a healthcare foodservice setting, always following established guidelines and regulations.

To be successful in this role, you must focus on food safety, providing excellent service, working efficiently and being a reliable team member.

• Follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes. Avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements. Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food equipment, and machinery per regulations & facility guidelines
• Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu & dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment. Maintains knowledge of recipe ingredients to respond to food allergy questions or requests
• Follows organizational standards and guidelines for a high quality patient and customer experience. Ensures proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation
• Supports team members in all areas of food services including cashier, retail, stocking, cleaning, tray service, dishwashing, food storage and food prep, etc.
