Job summary

Norwalk Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant or EMT to provide nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and CT Nursing Assistant or EMT credentials.

Shifts are 8 hours, between 7:00am and 11:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center offering comprehensive ER and medical services to Fairfield County and the NY metro area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nursing Assistant or EMT in Connecticut is required/preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Communicates with patients and staff in a courteous manner.
• Maintains unit supplies and equipment and uses computer systems as needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned and adheres to hospital policies.

Summary:

To provides nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN.
• Communicates with patients, visitors and coworkers within the scope of his/her responsibilities in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures in carrying out unit assignments i.e., stocking, equipment maintenance. Follows mini protocols. Maintains computer skills i.e., Eclipys and Cerner, enters orders/patient charges and Emerge data.
• Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost efficient and proper manner i.e.., stocking and maintenance of equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Education:

HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and is a Nursing Assistant or an EMT in the State of Connecticut.

Desired: Minimum Experience: zero to six months
