Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Nursing Technician to support Registered Nurses by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with mobility and daily tasks. The role operates under close supervision to help deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.

Key responsibilities include monitoring vitals, documenting procedures, and coordinating with the care team to ensure safety and efficiency. Certification in Nurse Aide and BLS are required by the NC DHHR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Nurse Aide Certification required by NC DHHR.
• CPR/BLS certification (American Red Cross or AHA).

Responsibilities

• Observe and document patient conditions to support RN and care planning.
• Assist with daily living tasks and progressive mobility for recovery.
• Admit, transfer and discharge patients per care plan.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with basic procedures as directed.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and restock supplies per safety goals.
• Ensure fall-risk patients have proper armbands and signage.
• Record all clinical procedures and medications in patient history.
• Respond to RN delegation and communicate patient observations promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function:

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
