Job summary

Hale Ho Aloha Nursing Home in Honolulu is seeking a Nursing Supervisor to lead day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area. You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff to promote and restore patients’ health and provide aid to residents and families.

Qualifications

  • BSN degree required; MSN degree preferred.
  • Current Hawaii RN license.
  • BCLS Level A required; re-training every two years.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Three years of supervisory/administrative nursing experience.
  • Experience in hospice, long-term or acute care preferred.
  • Two references required.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Administrator, the Nursing Supervisor promotes and restores patients’ health by developing day‑to‑day management and long‑term planning of the patient care area; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing aid to patients and families. The Nursing Supervisor exercises considerable judgement in applying professional and clinical knowledge in solving nursing problems in accordance with all laws, regulations and Hale Ho Aloha standards. The position is responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice; for coordinating nursing and training programs; for recognizing and assisting in solving professional, clinical and supervisory problems in the Nursing Department.

Essential Duties:
  • Develops and improves nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; assists and formulates interdisciplinary assessments of patients’ plan of care; develops and implements treatment strategies to promote the quality of life for patients; assures quality of care adheres with all laws, regulations and Hale Ho Aloha standards.
  • Acts as a resource in identifying and/or solving nursing concerns; anticipates actual/potential problems that may occur; serves as a resource to interpret and ensure adherence with all laws, regulations and Hale Ho Aloha’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Uphold the values of Hale Ho Aloha, ensuring that the mission and vision of the company are understood and accomplished with consistency.
  • Collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, the physicians and the interdisciplinary team in enforcing the policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements of Hale Ho Aloha.
  • Maintains open communication with the nursing management staff and other long‑term associates and disciplines.
  • Integrates established care plan interventions while performing resident care duties and provide supportive services.
  • Participates in the assessment of residents’ functional status and emotional, social, and medical therapeutic needs.
  • Supports and promotes resident rights, dignity, quality of life.

Requirements:
  • BSN degree required; MSN degree preferred.
  • Current State of Hawaii Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Level A required. Re‑training once every two years.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory, managerial, or administrative position in Nursing.
  • Experience in hospice, long term or acute care preferred
  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • 2 Step TB, Followed by 1 Step TB (within 1 year)
  • 2 References Required
  • Flexibility to work other times as needed and to attend mandatory training.
  • Good written, verbal, non‑verbal, and active listening communication skills.
  • Experience with PointClickCare preferred.
