Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a PRN Nurse Student Tech to support the patient care team in Cleveland. The role involves direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and providing administrative/clerical support as needed.

Eligible students must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program through at least the first clinical rotation, complete Summa’s orientation, and hold a current BLS-HCP card. Physical duties include standing and lifting as described in the job details.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Must complete Summa’s orientation.
• Current BLS-HCP card on hire and maintained thereafter.
• Ability to read and write English and follow written/oral instructions.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift heavy objects when required.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care team with multifunctional activities under RN direction.
• Provide direct patient care and administrative/clerical support.
• Contribute to a collaborative patient care environment within Summa Health.

Summary

Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:


• Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.


• Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility:


• An employee may remain in the NST job post-graduation and pre-licensure up to six (6) months after which their eligibility to stay employed as an NST will cease.


• Experience and Training Required:


• Must complete Summa’s orientation


• Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter

• Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity


• Level of Physical Demands:


• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.


• Exposure to blood and body fluids and sharps; risks to falls, strains, contagious diseases, etc.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
