Job summary

Ocean County College seeks a Casual Nursing Skills Lab Assistant to support student learning in the Nursing Skills lab, guiding usage of practice simulators and multimedia tools, and to coordinate with faculty and clinical instructors.

This on-site, as-needed role requires RN licensure in NJ, a BSN, and experience with multimedia hardware/software; you will help identify lab opportunities, ensure supplies, and stay current with nursing trends.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Two years of recent nursing experience with emphasis on medical-surgical procedures and lab experience.
• Current active license as Registered Nurse in the State of NJ.
• At least one year of recent experience working with multimedia computers and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in the Nursing Skills lab in the utilization of practice simulators and computer/multimedia software and hardware.
• Provides remediation, skills clarification to students as requested by the faculty and/or clinical instructors.
• Assists in the identification of course-appropriate clinical practice opportunities available in the lab.
• Remains available to meet lab-staffing needs.
• Provides input to the Lab Manager related to student lab needs.
• Remains current with the changing trends in nursing practice and evolving technology.
• Assists in the development of new Nursing Skills Lab experiences and in the revision of current experiences.
• Maintains adequate supplies for the Lab experiences and in the revision of current experiences.
• Assists with student focus groups to enhance clinical skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Related duties as assigned.
