Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals seeks a Director of Nursing to lead multiple care units, implement evidence-based practices and ensure safe, high-quality patient care. The role requires strategic planning, staff development, and strong collaboration with executive leadership across departments.

The ideal candidate brings a Master’s in Nursing Administration or equivalent, plus several years of administrative nursing experience and a NYS RN license.

Qualifications

• New York State license and current RN registration.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or related field with 3 years of supervisory experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years supervisory experience.
• May require Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating nursing service and health programs.
• Ensures optimal resource utilization, safe patient care, and compliance with rules and standards.
• Leads staffing planning, directs personnel selection and coverage to meet departmental goals.
• Assesses and improves patient experience and staff engagement through data-driven interventions.
• Promotes ICARE values through leadership and clinical governance.
• Oversees budgeting, capital allocation and financial stewardship across departments.
• Performs performance evaluations and disciplinary actions of assigned staff.
