Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a PRN Med Surg nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. You will provide direct nursing care under supervision, assist with daily living activities and vital signs, and help document patient status.

Strong candidate will be enrolled in a nursing program within 90 days of hire and hold a current BLS certificate. Hospital environment, EAP resources, and a supportive team are offered.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be enrolled or accepted into a nursing program within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under nurse supervision, following healthcare policies and protocols.
• Assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, and complete assigned nursing orders.
• Observe and document patient status, reporting findings to the preceptor or appropriate staff.
• Support care plan development, assist with test results, and handle additional tasks like patient transport and environmental services

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED required.

• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer required.
