Basic Function/Definition

Rio Hondo College is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track district position. The teaching assignment will include teaching in the entry level program as well as the ADN or LVN program and act as coordinator/director of the CNA program. This may include theory and/or clinical instruction in the Associate Degree Nursing, Vocational Nursing and Health Science courses as well as responsibilities as part of the larger college setting.

This position may include evening and/or weekend classes.

This position requires strong clinical and classroom teaching skills in medical/surgical/gerontology nursing and one of the following specialty areas: obstetrics, pediatrics nursing. Applicants must be eligible for approval to teach nursing in medical/surgical nursing and their specialty area, from the Board of Registered Nursing and BVNPT .

Minimum Qualifications

Hold a current California Registered Nurse License

AND

one year of full-time employment as a Registered Nurse

AND

Master’s in nursing

AND

Demonstrated knowledge of specific discipline; knowledge of instructional needs of community college students

AND

Ability to relate well with peers and other co-workers; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to be flexible in a changing environment

AND

Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
