Job summary

WVU Parkersburg invites applications for Nursing Faculty to join our on-campus team for Fall 2026. This exempt, 9-month renewable full-time position entails a 30-credit hour teaching load per contract in Nursing and related courses.

Responsibilities include academic advising, committee service, program and course assessment, and active use of learning management systems. Evening, weekend, hybrid, and online instruction may be required; dedication to teaching effectiveness and student success is

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher is required; graduate study in nursing preferred.
• Experience teaching at the college level and comfort with multiple instructional modalities.
• Demonstrated use of technology and assessment practices in teaching.

WVU Parkersburg is a Community and Technical College located in Parkersburg, WV along with Jackson County Center in Ripley, WV and Innovation Technology Center in Vienna, WV. We are not a branch of West Virginia University. We are dedicated to teaching and are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees.

Responsibilities

• This appointment will include a 30-credit hour teaching load per contract in Nursing.
• Other college level courses may also be assigned depending on the selected candidate’s credentials.
• Teaching assignments may include evening, weekend, hybrid and/or totally on-line instruction.
• In addition, duties will include academic advising, committee service, program and course-level assessment, program support, effective use of learning management systems, student recruitment/retention and professional development.
• Use of learning management systems and demonstrated effective use of technology is a condition of continued employment beyond the first year.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university will be considered if enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in Nursing within one year of employment OR
• A master’s degree in nursing from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university OR
• A bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ direct patient care in Nursing.
• West Virginia RN licensure or eligibility for such licensure.
• Demonstrated use of advanced technology systems such as learning management systems or similar technologies.
• Understanding and application of assessment practices is strongly preferred.
• Successful college-level teaching experience is preferred,as well as prior effective use of technology in instructional delivery, and a willingness to deliver courses in all instructional modalities.
• Demonstration of teaching effectiveness is part of the on-campus interview.

• Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality are expected to ensure performance of the essential function of the job, including scheduled meetings and shifts.
