Job summary

Fairport Rehab and Nursing Center in Fairport, NY is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our Nursing Department and ensure safe, high-quality, resident-centered care in compliance with regulations and policies. The DON plans, organizes, develops, and directs nursing services in accordance with regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications

• New York State RN license required.
• BSN required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of long-term care or rehabilitation experience; 3 years of management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Nursing Department.
• Oversee nursing policies, procedures, clinical standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide clinical and administrative leadership to nursing management and staff.
• Monitor resident care, care plans, clinical outcomes, staffing, and quality of services.
• Conduct facility rounds to ensure resident needs are met and a safe environment is maintained.
• Prepare for and participate in surveys, inspections, audits, and regulatory programs.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives, including Infection Control and QAPI.
• Support staff orientation, education, leadership development, and professional growth.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, Residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with Resident Rights, HIPAA, abuse reporting, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and other regulatory requirements.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities and work flexible hours as needed.
• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Fairport Rehab and Nursing Center.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.
