Job summary

Optalis Healthcare in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee nursing operations and ensure residents achieve their highest practicable well-being in line with state and federal standards.

The DON will lead nursing policy development, ensure adequate staffing, promote quality assurance, and drive infection control and education programs across the facility.

Qualifications

• RN license active in Michigan required.
• Supervisory experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Graduate of accredited nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing department operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and update nursing policies, procedures and standards of care.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and scheduling to meet resident needs.
• Provide leadership to ADONs, Nursing Supervisors, Charge Nurses and CNAs.
• Participate in admission screenings, resident assessments and care conferences.
• Lead infection control, quality assurance and nursing education initiatives.
• Support survey readiness and corrective action planning.
• Monitor nursing documentation and clinical record accuracy.
• Apply geriatric nursing knowledge and SNF regulations.
• Demonstrate leadership, mentoring and team-building abilities.
