Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide patient-centered care and daily living assistance under RN/LPN supervision. This role includes evening 12-hour shifts, weekends, and a 40-hour work week at our Fargo facility.

The NA performs basic health care tasks, records vitals, and assists with treatments, while ensuring safe, compassionate care and patient comfort throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred; maintain required competencies.
• ND Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or within four months if not CNA.
• WI Nurse Aide Registry eligibility if working in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities and basic health care.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and health information.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens as needed.
• Prepare patient treatment areas and equipment; dispose of biomedical waste properly.

Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

• Provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities; bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
• If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
