Job summary

Prisma Health in North Greenville Med Campus is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support Registered Nurses by collecting patient data, performing basic nursing procedures, and assisting with treatments.

This role emphasizes ADL support, vital signs, EMR documentation, and safe patient handling within a North Greenville Long-Term Acute Care Hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Assisting with basic nursing procedures and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and hygiene; turns and repositions patients; transport support as needed.
• Assist with admission of patients to the unit and orient patients and families to the unit.
• Take and record vital signs accurately and document any questionable values.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding and snacks.
• Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and deliver to appropriate department.
• Complete documentation in EMR accurately and timely.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of hospital rooms, common areas, and hallways.
• Perform point-of-care testing as trained and report lab values to RN.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status. Performance of basic nursing procedures. On-going collection and documentation of patient data. Assistance with treatments and procedures. Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.

Accountabilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene. Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance. May transport patients and assist with walking. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices. 50%
• Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV). 10%
• Taking and recording vital signs accurately and with repeating questionable values. 10%
• Preparing patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements. 10%
• Collecting urine, stool, and sputum specimens. Delivering specimens to appropriate department as requested. 5%
• Completing documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner. 5%
• Maintaining cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves. Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied. 5%
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN. 5%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
