Job summary

UPMC in Harrisburg is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform core nursing tasks, including glucose checks, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, and patient safety under RN supervision.

You will assist with ADLs, manage supplies, and communicate with the health care team to ensure safe, compassionate care. Completion of UPMC nursing assistant training is required, and CPR/BLS and Act 34 clearances are needed within 30 days. This is an on-site role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant training program.
• Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Work permit required if under 18 years of age.
• CPR/BLS certification required per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• Act 34 clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Performs core nursing assistant tasks: glucose checks, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care.
• Communicates learning needs and seeks guidance from unit director.
• Maintains safety and supports teamwork with the health care staff.
• Assists with patient care, ADLs, and daily living activities under RN supervision.
• Documents in medical record and supports department operations.
