Job summary

Essentia Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, vital signs, and maintaining a safe and clean environment to support healing.

Qualifications

• BLS certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Active North Dakota Nursing Assistant registration within 3 months if not NA-certified.
• Able to work 36 hours per week, day shift, rotating 8/12-hr shifts.
• Availability for every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and transfers.
• Take vital signs and document accurately.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment in line with Joint Commission standards.
• Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.

Job Description:

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications:

This position requires the ability to work the following schedule:

• 36 hours per week
• Day Shift
• Mix of 8 hour and 12 hour shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday

Hiring Incentive Eligible Position: Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1500.

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
• If not certified as a Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within 3 months from date of employment.
