Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Nursing Assistant for 6 East Telemetry, a 22-bed unit specializing in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery patients. Under RN supervision, you will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and support patient safety and comfort.

The role runs 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, 24 hours per week. Requires high school diploma and BLS; no prior experience required. Base pay ranges $20.00–$26.92 per hour with potential overtime and shift differentials.

• Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; 30 days to obtain after hire.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes activities of daily living.
• Records vital signs and reports any unusual observations to the nurse.
• Collects specimens for analysis and tracks intake and output.
• Provides for personal care and assists with activities of daily living.
• Performs basic clinical procedures under supervision as needed by the unit.
• Supports safety and infection control policies and practices.

6 East is a 22 Telemetry Bed, blended acuity unit specializing in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery patient populations. With a vision of healing hearts without skipping a beat, our team provides exceptional care to patients with a variety of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular conditions. This population of patients includes pre and post CABG, Heart Valve surgery, Septal Myectomy, Aneurysm Repair, Thoracotomy, Femoral-Popliteal bypass and other acute cardiothoracic and vascular conditions. Our team includes a great group of HealthCare professionals committed to the delivery of safe, high-quality care to our patients.

Job Description:

Schedule:

3 pm-11:30 pm, 24 hours per week

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

A. Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes all aspects of activities of daily living for assigned patients (refer to Delegation Competency for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel).

1. Vital Signs: May take and record the following: ·

• vital signs
• height and weight
• oxygen saturation
• Reports all unusual observations or reactions of the patient to the nurse assigned to the patient or charge nurse.

1. Intake and Output: Collects various specimens for analysis and measures and records intake and output.
2. Activities of Daily Living: Provides patients with personal care and assist with activities of daily living.
3. Clinical Procedures: Performs basic clinical procedures independently or under direct supervision of a nurse.
4. Nutrition: Provides for patient’s nutritional needs including assisting the patient with ordering room service, set up of meal tray, and feeds the patient as required.
5. Safety: Supports a culture of safety and carries out safety interventions for all patients.
6. Infection Control: Adheres to all applicable infection control policies and procedures.
7. Sitter: Assist as patient safety attendant after completion of required competency.
8. Orientation: Assists with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
9. Performs additional unit-based activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support/BLS Required. New Hires/transfers will have 30 days to obtain BLS certification.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Basic ability to read, write and perform basic four-function math.

Ability to obtain knowledge of medical terminology, basic personal computer skills, and interpersonal skills.

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $26.92

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
