Job summary

Sanford Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant to join the Oncology team at our Fargo, ND location. The role focuses on patient-centered nursing care under RN/LPN supervision, with duties in daily living activities and basic health tasks during scheduled shifts.

Shifts run 7:00am-3:30pm and 3:00pm-11:30pm, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Additional compensation is provided for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
• If ND and not a CNA, must be on North Dakota Nurse Aide Registry within training/validation or 4 months from employment start.
• If WI, must be on Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry or be a student nurse with basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with daily living activities and basic health care needs (bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal prep).
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments; record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Will collect non-invasive biological specimens as needed and perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient care.
• Prepare patient treatment areas, clean equipment, and manage biomedical waste in accordance with policy.

Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

Provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities; bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs. Administer delegated tasks and treatments. Record vital statistics and other basic health information.

Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed. Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare. Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy. Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms. When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.

If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
