Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) at the Otero County Processing Center is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. You will pass medications, maintain logs, and provide clinical care to detainees in compliance with MTC Medical and ICE directives.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR certification, and NM/TX certification as applicable. Prior hospital or correctional experience is preferred; a valid NM/TX driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Nurse Assistant/Aide, EMT or Medical Assistant with NM/TX certification.
• One year of hospital/clinic or correctional setting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated word processing and data entry competency.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid NM or TX driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Pass medications and provide healthcare services to detainees as directed.
• File and respond to information requests; maintain documentation.
• Enter prescription information into logs and MARs.
• Maintain medical supplies and inventory; ensure proper storage.
• Return medications to pharmacy; assist with logs and forms.
• Support Sick Call, Chronic Clinic and Specialty Logs per supervision.

Education

1 year of experience in hospital/clinic/correctional setting (preferred)

What you’ll do

You’ll be responsible for passing medications, filing, answering requests for information, and providing healthcare to detainees in compliance with MTC Medical and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) directives.

Essential Functions

• Receive and maintain medical supplies and store properly. Provide accurate documentation and inventory.
• Enter prescription information into log: create labels and Medication Administration Records.
• Ensure medical supply cart, trauma bag, the PPE room and the facility first aid kits are fully and accurately stocked at all times.
• Return medications to pharmacy.
• Submit order forms for medical and office supplies, under supervision of Registered Nurse and Physician.
• Assist with maintenance of the Sick Call, Chronic Clinic and Specialty Logs.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• May be a Nurse Assistant/Aide, Emergency Medical Technician, or Medical Assistant with appropriate certification or permit licensed to practice in New Mexico.
• One year of experience in a hospital, clinic or correctional setting preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in word processing and computer data entry.
• Must hold current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
